EDMOND — A colorful work by glass artist Dale Chihuly will be up for auction in this year's Fine Arts Institute of Edmond's Spring Sampler Evening of Art.
The fundraising event for the institute will be from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Oak Tree Country Club. The money goes toward operational expenses for the institute.
Board members, committee members, faculty and staff have been busy gathering auction items, such as tickets for the taping of the Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon shows, original paintings, a wine cooler refrigerator and a hot-air balloon ride.
Thunder tickets, a weeklong stay at a Hilton Head Island condo, jewelry, dinners and fresh flowers each month for a year also are among the live auction items.
Kim Wallace and Vanessa Kress are co-chairwomen.
Tickets are $150 a couple and can be purchased at the institute at 27 E Edwards.
“Excitement is high for this annual fundraising event,” Wallace said. “Tickets are on a first-come, first-serve basis and go quickly.”
Every year, food establishments and restaurants donate samplings for a light buffet.
Janet Hoppe, Assistant Executive Director Shannon Price, Jamie Underwood, Susan Kropp, C.H. Wyatt, John Steen, Dawn Byram, Katie Collins, Louise Cleary, Tim Deimund, Ashley Perkins, Stephanie Carel, Lydia Miller, Executive Director Mitzi Hancuff and Wallace made up the committee for the event.
The institute is a nonprofit organization offering educational enrichment for adults and children in the visual and performing arts. Classes are taught year-round.
