EDMOND — Gabrielle “Brielle” Bunn planned to go on a mission trip to Haiti over fall break.

When the trip was canceled because of bad weather, Bunn decided to help the needy in Haiti another way.

She is planning Hope for Haiti, a 24-hour bike ride around Lake Hefner beginning about 6:30 tonight.

Bunn, a sophomore at Edmond Santa Fe High School, said she had planned to ride solo, but expects to be joined by several friends from her youth group at Lakeside Assembly of God in northwest Oklahoma City.

The teens are riding for donations and hope to send the money to help Haitian orphanages and churches.

Bunn’s father, Charlie Bunn, said he is working on an alternate plan in case it rains.

The teen’s friends and family members from Lakeside Assembly plan to gather at Stars and Stripes Park at the lake about 7 tonight for prayer and to encourage the biking teens.

For more information about Hope for Haiti or to donate, call Bunn at 519-5538. Bunn said would-be donors also can donate by going online to www.mohhaiti.org and clicking on the Hope for Haiti comment box.
