Edmond helps social agencies
Edmond city council members approved $512,000 for a dozen social agencies. The support goes to groups that benefit Edmond residents.
EDMOND — A dozen Edmond community agencies have contracts with the city that will provide $512,000 for the next fiscal year that begins July 1.
City council members this week unanimously approved agreements with the agencies that offer Edmond residents charitable, educational, health, social services and community enrichment benefits.
The agencies are the same 12 groups Edmond leaders helped support this fiscal year. The allocations are $25,500 more for next fiscal year.
Edmond will give next year's LibertyFest celebration $53,500, the same amount given this year for the nationally known Fourth of July celebration. LibertyFest is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
The largest payments will go to the Hope Center ($160,000) and Edmond Family Counseling ($137,500). Both allocations have been increased by $5,000.
City leaders decided to increase their help for Edmond Mobile Meals to $42,000, a $7,000 boost from this year.
