— Edmond has been named the 73rd best place to live in America for 2012 by CNN Money Magazine.

Moore came in 77th, and Norman placed 92nd. Broken Arrow was named by the magazine as the 69th best place to live in America.

Magazine officials wanted to find America's best small city with a population of 50,000 to 300,000 people. Coming in first was Carmel, Ind., a city of about 80,000 people with a 20-minute commute to downtown Indianapolis.

Using data from Onboard Informatics and other sources, they identified locations with economic strength, quality health care, low crime, great schools and lots to do.

“Edmond is in a great location with easy access to Oklahoma City,” Edmond Mayor Charles Lamb said. “We have good climate, reasonable cost of living and quality schools, including private and higher education opportunities.

“There are numerous sports options with high-quality parks and recreation facilities. We have a safe community, with (a) historical look and feel for a thriving downtown.”
