EDMOND — Council members will consider a lease Monday to rent downtown office space for at least 50 city employees who must move out of the administration building, which will be torn down to make way for the new public safety center.
They are considering renting 13,000 to 14,000 square feet of office space at 7 N Broadway for $11,800 a month. The cost for this fiscal year would be $106,200.
The building, owned by Spearman Investments Inc., is north of Simply Southwest.
The council meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at 20 S Littler Ave.
Utility customer service and the finance department, which includes purchasing, payroll, treasury, accounting staff and human resources, will move from the administration building at 100 E First St.
The information technology group could move to the leased space if city officials are unsuccessful in obtaining another location.
Employees would likely be in the temporary location for at least three years.
“The office space is located within a block of our existing city campus of offices and provides adjacent public parking for the visitors to our office,” said Assistant City Manager Steve Commons.
