Prosecutors have charged an Edmond man with six counts of embezzlement and one count of pattern of criminal offenses after half a dozen Oklahoma County residents said he took thousands of dollars from them to build swimming pools that he never finished.

Gary Robert Oester, 54, who did business as Indigo Custom Pools, was charged after the Oklahoma attorney general's office launched an investigation following several complaints from his customers.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the charges, Oester took more than $60,000 from six people last year after contracting to build pools at their homes in Choctaw, Yukon and Oklahoma City.

In some cases Oester dug holes for the pools and purchased some materials but never completed the work he contracted to do and did not refund customers their money, the affidavit states.

Attempts to reach Oester Friday were unsuccessful.
