Edmond man is jailed after allegedly threatening judge, attorneys in case
Christopher A. Durham, 42, of Edmond, was arrested after his attorney told an investigator Durham said “he is capable of doing things along the line” of the Connecticut school shooting.
An Edmond man is being held without bail, accused of threatening a judge and two attorneys after learning his court case was “a lost cause,” records show.
Christopher Arthur Durham, 42, was arrested Jan. 18 on complaints of threatening an act of violence to do physical harm. He was being held without bail in the Oklahoma County jail, a detention officer said Wednesday.
Targets of the threats were Special Judge Lynne McGuire and attorneys Tom Daniel and Ken Klingenberg, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Court records show McGuire presided over Durham's divorce case and Daniel represented Durham's wife.
Durham's attorney told a sheriff's investigator that his client was “distraught” and aware “his court case is a lost cause, and that Judge McGuire, Tom Daniel and Ken Klingenberg do not realize what he is capable of and need to be careful,” according to the affidavit.
The attorney, Chris Reser, said Durham told him “he is capable of doing all kinds of things and is capable of doing things along the line of what just happened in Newtown, Conn.,” the investigator reported.
Reser brought the threats to the attention of the judge and two attorneys, according to the affidavit.
He could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
