EDMOND — A man jumped in front of an Edmond school bus Tuesday in what police are calling an attempted suicide.

The 56-year-old Edmond man was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City for mental evaluation following the 8:40 a.m. accident in front of KickingBird Golf Course, said Jennifer Monroe, Edmond police spokeswoman.

No children were on the bus at the time of the accident.

The bus driver was going west on Danforth Road just east of Bryant Avenue and noticed the man walking toward him in the grass before the man stepped off the curb in front of the bus, Monroe said.

“The bus barely hit him,” Monroe said. “The bus driver did a good job.”
