The Oklahoman's Diana Baldwin chatted with readers Thursday about downtown Edmond roads, restaurants and businesses. Join her chat every third Thursday of the month at 2 p.m. Below is an unedited transcript of the chat.

NewsOK 1:13 p.m. Hey everyone. We'll get started with our Edmond chat at 2 p.m., but you can start submitting your questions now.
Diana Baldwin 2:01 p.m. Welcome to our Edmond live chat. Let's get started.
John 2:01 p.m. What's going on with the public safety center?
Diana Baldwin 2:03 p.m. If you haven't been to downtown Edmond lately, it is worth the trip. Construction on the third floor of the building is starting. The 70,000-square-foot building is taking really coming together. Police, emergency management and dispatcher are planning to move in in September 2015.
Jill 2:04 p.m. I live in Oklahoma City and rarely visit Edmond. What's there to do this weekend?
Diana Baldwin 2:05 p.m. This weekend is Easter. So there is a number of Easter egg hunts. One is at the University of Central Oklahoma on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. There also is a carnival for the children. It is located in front of the Hamilton Field House on the Edmond campus.
Steve 2:05 p.m. Why is Mercy building a health facility right next to Integris? Aren't there other places beyond I-35 that need those services?
Diana Baldwin 2:08 p.m. Actually the Mercy building is a wellness center. They will focus on keeping people in good health instead of getting them well after they become sick. Mercy will have a fitness center and Olympic-size swimming pool. integris is a hospital with an emergency room and beds. There also is a medical complex for doctors at Integris Edmond. They are getting ready to expand.
Tyler 2:08 p.m. Hearing any news of developments on the I-35 corridor? Also, is the hilton hotel/ convention still in the works? Thanks
Diana Baldwin 2:10 p.m. Yes - big time. Things are starting to move at Covell and Interstate 35. There has been a slight hold up because the developer and the city decided to exchange property for the location of the conference center and hotel. They are waiting on an appraisal on the land. Looks like the city is getting a bigger piece of land and at no additional cost.
Justin 2:10 p.m. Please, if you can say, outline what's coming to the new Covell developments? Any businesses or restaurant chains in particular?
Diana Baldwin 2:13 p.m. The only business made public at this time are Crest, McDonalds and Braums. I keeping and those in the know aren't talking, but act like once the hotel and conference center starts coming out the ground the announcements of other businesses and restaurants will be made.
Kurt Cobain 2:13 p.m. When does Pelican Bay open?
Diana Baldwin 2:14 p.m. Pelican Bay always open Memorial Day weekend. Be sure to look for the sale of season passes.
Tyler 2:14 p.m. Has there been anymore discussion on what will happen with the city building that are vacated once they move into the safety center? Namely the police station?
Diana Baldwin 2:16 p.m. There is a study under way about the re-development of the city-owned campus. Part of the administration staff is in rented offices on Broadway. More than likely they will move into the old police department.
Guest 2:17 p.m. What's the status on road repair on Covell between Santa Fe and Penn?
Diana Baldwin 2:18 p.m. I know Covell Road is priority of city leaders. They started, as you know, at Santa Fe and went east. Well, now they are going work on the east end near Interstate where the development of Crest, the conference center and the new hotel will be.
CC 2:19 p.m. What is going in where Vin Dolce used to be?
Diana Baldwin 2:19 p.m. I not sure. I can check on that.
Jennifer 2:19 p.m. Any new restaurants coming to Edmond?
Diana Baldwin 2:22 p.m. One new is the Qdoba on Covell near Kelly Avenue. Not many restaurants out that way. Of course, there is ready-prepared food at Uptown also. Also, Alvarados that was on Second Street for ever just moved to the old sushi place on Broadway.
Jennifer 2:22 p.m. What's something many people don't know about Edmond?
Diana Baldwin 2:22 p.m. Last call for questions. We are going wrap this shortly.
Diana Baldwin 2:23 p.m. Jennifer: Don't if you heard this week. Mayor Charles Lamb said he was going run for mayor again. He wants to be in office when the public safety center is completed. The project is close to his heart.
Guest 2:24 p.m. Jennifer - Downtown Edmond is home to the oldest existing commercial building in OK County .. 120 years old!
Aaron 2:24 p.m. Any updates on additional bike lanes?
Diana Baldwin 2:25 p.m. I am not aware of any additional bike lane planned. I know every time a new project is planned, council members want bike lane included. I'll double check on any new bike lanes.
Diana Baldwin 2:26 p.m. Thanks for joining us today. Join us every third Thursday at 2 p.m. to chat about Edmond.
