Edmond Memorial product Taylor Moore off to fast start in 2014

Former Edmond Memorial golfer Taylor Moore, now a sophomore at Arkansas, started off 2014 with a bang, winning the inaugural Saguaro Amateur on Sunday at Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz.

The three-stroke victory at the 54-hole event came just days after Moore finished third at the Patriot All-American at Litchfield Park, Ariz. Through six rounds in seven days, Moore never carded a round over par, and had a stroke average of 67.8 for the two events.

At the Saguaro Amateur, Moore had 14 birdies and two bogeys over three days, and carded a 29 on the front nine at Southern Dunes on Saturday.

“It means a lot to win this event, especially with it being the first year,” said Moore, a two-time Class 6A state champ at Edmond Memorial. “This definitely gives me some confidence, but is just a step in the right direction in a spring full of hard work.”

Moore begins his spring season at Arkansas Feb. 15.
