The Edmond Chapter of Parents Helping Parents will host a talk on grieving the loss of the addicted child. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Loss of addicted child is topic

— “Grieving the Loss of the Addicted Child” will be presented by Patty Gail Patten during a Tuesday meeting of the Edmond Chapter of Parents Helping Parents.

Patten, a substance abuse counselor, will speak at 6:30 p.m. at the Oklahoma Blood Institute, 33rd Street and Broadway.

Parents Helping Parents provides hope through resources, education and shared experience.

Clerk, staff become certified

Municipal Court Clerk Sharon Ferrell and two members of her staff have completed continuing education requirements to become certified officers of the municipal court.

Claudia Miller, deputy court clerk and assistant court administrator, and Jackie Robertson, deputy court clerk and docket specialist, also received certification from the Oklahoma Municipal Court Clerks Associations.

Other staff members of the Edmond court also are going through program.

The certification program offers court officers continuing education requirements of 15 hours of court administration, nine hours of general education and 12 hours of electives.
