Trevor Moore was even surprised he was attempting a 42-yard field goal against a strong south wind on Oct. 10 in Yukon.

However, the Edmond North kicker knew that he could make it, and he did just that.

“I knew if I hit it 100-percent clean, I could make it,” Moore said. “I didn't even hit it 100-percent clean. That was the weird part; I got under it a little bit.”

Moore became a consistent offensive weapon for the Huskies throughout the season, making 12 of 15 field goals and 33 extra-point attempts to earn a spot on The Oklahoman's All-State football team.

And it didn't take long for first-year Edmond North coach Scott Burger to realize exactly what kind of weapon he possessed in the North Texas commitment.

It started with the booming sound of the ball coming off Moore's leg in preseason practices.

“You can just tell a kid that can kick,” Burger said. “You don't really have to watch them; you just have to stand beside them and turn away and listen to the impact.

“That's what he's got. He's got that explosion and he's going to be really good in college.”

Moore said he started attending Kohl's Kicking camps after his freshman year, and by the time his junior year started he was noticing a big difference in his kicks.
