Edmond North presents 'Crazy for You' this week
EDMOND — Once again, Edmond North drama and music students are pulling out all the stops, bells and whistles to liven up the high school's stage.
At 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, students will present “Crazy for You,” a musical comedy based on George and Ira Gershwin's 1930 play “Girl Crazy.”
The plot concerns Bobby Child, the son of a prominent East Coast banker. Though he'd rather be a song-and-dance man, Bobby is forced to enter the family business. His first assignment is to foreclose on the Gaiety Theater in Deadrock, Ariz.
But when he falls in love with Polly Baker, daughter of the Gaiety's owner, Bobby dedicates himself to saving the theater. To win over the audience, the characters host a spectacular musical debut where they sing such best-loved songs as “Embraceable You,” “Bidin' My Time,” and the show stopping “I Got Rhythm.”
“Crazy For You” won the 1992 Tony Award for best musical.
North students Rachel Thompson and Jack Boyd will play the lead roles.
Tickets can be bought at the door, and are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors, students and children.
