EDMOND —Oklahoma wrestling coach Mark Cody is already pulling upsets before the Sooners’ season even opens.
Monday night the Dixon triplets — Andrew, Joel and Lance — each verbally committed to the Sooners, their mom told The Oklahoman.
The triplets from Edmond North turned down both Iowa and Oklahoma State, a school they have favored since they were 8 years old.
“They were going to go all three different ways because this has been the hardest decision they have ever come to,” Linda Dixon said. “It came down to they could stay together and they could go for free. That’s the choice and they’re staying close to home.”
They each won their individual weights last year as juniors, while also leading Edmond North to the team championship.
Andrew won at 220 pounds, Lance won at 170 pounds and Joel won at 195 pounds. Joel was also recently ranked No. 1 in the nation at his weight by USA Wrestling.
