— Free mulch, made from discarded Christmas trees, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 8 a.m. Friday.

City officials estimate they have chipped 1,600 Christmas trees that were dropped off as part of the city's tree recycling program.

The mulch will be available to Edmond residents at J.L. Mitch Park in the north parking lot adjacent to Marilyn Williams Drive, across from the Multipurpose Activity Center.

“The mulch is very popular, and it doesn't last very long,” said Wesley Dedmon, Edmond's solid waste superintendent.
