Several free dog seminars are scheduled this month at PETCO, which is located at 324 S Bryant Ave., in Edmond. Loose Leash Walking is set for 6 to 7 p.m. Friday. Pet owners will be taught positive reinforcement techniques to teach their dogs how to walk politely on a leash without pulling.
Puppy Socialization will be taught from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday. Owners will learn how to provide positive social learning experiences while raising a puppy. Professionals say socialization begins at birth and is critical for development of happy, friendly adult dogs. The class will be an interactive experience between owners and dogs. Behavior and Manners is scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m. Dec. 29. The class promises to help prevent and solve basic behavior problems such as barking, chewing, digging, jumping up, running away and more. Owners will be taught the causes for these behaviors and positive ways to change them. In addition to the free seminars, PETCO is offering pet photos with Santa from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Cost for a framed digital photo is $8.95 plus tax, while supplies last, $5 of which goes to benefit homeless pets. The store also is selling ornament cards in denominations of $1, $5, $10 and $20 for the annual Tree of Hope, which helps orphaned animals nationwide through the PETCO Foundation.
