Ron Walters, of R.W. Development, proposes building 84 units in the project, named Mon Abri.

Randel Shadid, attorney for the developer, said a similar project is in Moore.

“This facility that we are proposing is strictly a residential one for seniors who are still active,” Shadid said. “There is no assisted living or nursing home component to this development. It is an empty nesters development.”

Shadid said they would market to people 55 and older but would not violate any age discrimination laws. There is no HUD assistance with the project.

The housing would be on 10.18 acres and the office buildings on 1.59 acres.

“This property is left over after the new Boulevard was constructed and bisected the property that at one time was in one contiguous piece,” Shadid said. “The new road is a wonderful asset to Edmond.”
