Planning commissioners approved by a 3-1 vote this week a final plat for an office complex for Living Well at Spring Creek, a center for creating health awareness for families.

City council members will make a final decision on the plat on Monday.

The complex near 15th Street and Bryant Avenue will be the new home of Dr. Michele Menzel's Energetic Wellness program. Menzel, a natural health practitioner, now operates her business near Broadway and Rankin.

Planning chairman Barry Moore voted against the project, which will also include a 1,500-square-foot cafe and 400-square-foot area reserved for the sale of health supplements and food products.

Commissioner Mark Hoose did not attend the meeting.

The office park will have three buildings on the north side of 15th Street, a quarter-mile west of Bryant Avenue. The final plat was for 3.5 acres of land with a brick wall on the west side of the property.

Moore didn't say why he voted against the development. Council members earlier were concerned about the size of the property that backs up to the floodplain and the size of the project. They questioned drainage, landscaping and traffic flow near the development.

Council members agreed in July to rezone the property despite their concerns.

Ernie Isch, engineer for the project, said, “The final plat is in compliance with the preliminary plat and the planned unit development.”
