First- through fifth-place posters from each school will be showcased in the Arbor Day Art Show on display from Monday through the end of April at the Edmond Historical Museum, 431 S Boulevard.

“Edmond residents are encouraged to come and view the creative interpretations of Edmond's trees by the youth of the community,” Martin said.

Visitors can enter a raffle to win a tree and can decorate a leaf to add to a tree exhibit.

Good time to plant

Urban Forestry officials encourage all Edmond residents to celebrate Oklahoma Arbor Week by planting trees at their homes for energy savings, beautification, erosion prevention, wildlife habitat and numerous other reasons, Martin said.

March is a good time to plant trees, while the soil is thawing and tree buds are dormant, Martin said.
