EDMONDPolice Chief Bob Ricks and his partners won first place in the department’s annual golf tournament.

The tournament is sponsored by the Edmond Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association. This is the fifth year for the fundraiser tournament.

Charlotte Nutt, the tournament coordinator, said they are still calculating how much money was raised for the annual Edmond police officer’s awards banquet, held to announce the officer of the year.

Ricks and his partners, Fred Schmidt, Billy Harrison and Rick Morales, each received $150 gift certificates from Oak Tree Country Club pro shop.

This year’s tournament drew 76 players, fewer than in years past, Nutt said.

"When we booked the tournament, we didn’t realize it was fall break,” Nutt said. "It really hurt us.”

The recent rainy weather stayed away, with the clouds breaking up and the sun coming out just before the start of the golf tournament.

"It was really a good time and a nice day,” she said. "Everyone sounded like they had a good time.”
