Two people died Tuesday after suffering injuries in separate Oklahoma accidents, authorities reported.

Bob Waterson

A longtime Edmond Electric employee was killed Tuesday evening after being struck by a train in Edmond, Edmond police and the city of Edmond reported.

The fatality accident happened about 5:50 p.m. on the railroad tracks between W 15th Street and W 33rd Street near the Broadway Extension, Edmond police spokeswoman Jennifer Monroe said.

Waterson, whose age and hometown were not released Tuesday, was with tow truck employees trying to get his company vehicle free; it was stuck east of the tracks. A tow truck worker said they were clearing the area when the train approached. When he turned around, he saw Waterson had been hit by the train, Monroe said.

Waterson had been employed by Edmond Electric for nearly 34 years.

“We are incredibly saddened and shocked by this tragic accident,” said Glenn Fisher, director of Edmond Electric. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Bob’s family, friends and co-workers. He was a valued part of our team and this is a big loss for many people.”
