Edmond residents want trail at Arcadia Lake

The group will make its presentation to city council members at their meeting at 5:30 p.m. at 20 S Littler Ave.

The trail would be paid for with private donations.

Council members in February agreed to support the development of the trail around the lake.

Council members will consider Monday spending $200,000 to help with design work for the project. The money would come out of the park tax fund.

The group pushing for the trail has been focusing on finding funding and trying to establish a rough layout of a route around the lake, Assistant City Manager Steve Commons said.

There have been meetings with adjacent property owners, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and other local groups.

A community connections meeting is scheduled for Sept. 27.

Edmond already has another trails project in the works. Plans are to run the trail from Interstate 35 to Arcadia Lake.

City officials in March approved spending $176,300 for design work for the two- to three-mile project.

Design work is expected to be complete by the end of the year, Commons said.

TAPP Development Corp. is considering building a wellness park and trail head on the west side of the interstate that could tie into the city's new trail.
