Edmond's seventh monthly sales tax check was lower than the past several months, but still 4.4 percent higher than a year ago.

December's sales tax collection check hit a high of 31 percent over what was received 12 months ago.

The January check is for the last two weeks of November and the first half of December.

This year's budget projection was for 3 percent growth. The fiscal year began in July.

“It was down quite a bit from what we've been experiencing the past six months — but still 4.4 percent growth from last year, said Ross VanderHamm, city finance director and city clerk. “That is 17.66 percent (growth) in the last seven months.”

City officials attributed the sales tax increase in the last four monthly checks from the purchase of materials for roof repairs from a summer hailstorm. They think the repairs are slowing down.

So far, Edmond has collected $35,427,267 in sales tax revenue, up more than $9,333,002 compared to a year ago.
