Edmond Santa Fe quarterback Justice Hansen commits to OU

Justice Hansen started to feel at peace with his college decision early in the week.

The Edmond Santa Fe quarterback wanted to keep it quiet until Saturday though.

A few hours before Oklahoma’s spring game, Hansen officially pulled the trigger, committing to the Sooners.

“It’s nice to have it done,” Hansen said. “I wanted to get it out of the way before the game so I could start working on other recruits.

“It would be hard to recruit them when I wasn’t even committed yet.”

Hansen said he expected to graduate in December and be on campus in January so he could participate in spring football.

There was a large group of recruits from both the 2014 and 2015 classes on hand for the game.

With at least three in-state quarterbacks—Hansen, Norman North’s David Cornwell and Broken Arrow’s Coleman Key—expected to sign with Division I schools, the Sooners quickly zeroed in on Hansen as their top target.

Although his father, Dusty, played baseball at OU in the 1990s, the Sooners’ desire for Hansen goes much deeper than that.

He’s got the arm for the Big 12, having thrown for 3,079 yards and 36 touchdowns as a junior.
