Edmond Santa Fe's Justice Hansen out for remainder of season

Edmond Santa Fe quarterback Justice Hansen will not attempt to return during the playoffs due to a high ankle sprain, coach Lance Manning told The Oklahoman.

Hansen, who is committed to Oklahoma, suffered the injury on Oct. 18 in Lawton and has been in a walking boot since.

“I think it’s safe to say he’s not going to be back,” Manning said.

The Wolves (6-4) travel to Midwest City on Friday to open the playoffs in a rematch of the season opener, which the Bombers won 3-0 while the Wolves were also without Hansen due to a hamstring injury.

In parts of six games this season, he threw for 966 yards and eight touchdowns, while also rushing for 434 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Santa Fe sophomore Keaton Torre has filled in admirably for Hansen, throwing two touchdown passes in the Wolves’ 55-30 win against Choctaw on Friday.

“He’s playing well,” Manning said. “He’s doing a good job of managing.

“He’s a sophomore that gets better every week. We feel fortunate to have him back there.”
