Edmond Santa Fe's Justice Hansen will play Thursday against Yukon

Edmond Santa Fe quarterback Justice Hansen will make his season debut Thursday night against Yukon.

Coach Lance Manning said Tuesday morning the Sooner commitment looks better than ever after sitting out last week’s 3-0 loss to Midwest City with a hamstring injury.

“He’s even farther ahead than I thought he would be,” Manning said. “I think he’s 100 percent. Trainer feels great, Justice feels really confident and great, but I’m glad we did what we did.

“Speaking from my part, it’s nice to get back on track and have our quarterback back because he’s looked better than he’s ever looked. I mean that with all sincerity.”

In last week’s loss, the Wolves amassed just 185 total yards on offense and committed five turnovers.

Senior tailback Cameron Westbrook started at quarterback and receiver Kaden Mendenhall also saw time there.

Normal backup Keaton Torre was also out after undergoing minor knee surgery and should be cleared Monday, Manning said.

With Hansen back, everybody returns to their natural position to where Santa Fe can open the playbook even more.

“We thought we would be good enough to find a way to score some points and we should have,” Manning said. “We put that on our offensive line and other guys to step up.

“But in an offense that’s so quarterback oriented and you don’t have your top two guys, it’s really hard when you think about it. Our playbook was about 10 percent of what we would like.”
