The sign-up period for Edmond Pubic Schools 2014-2015 prekindergarten program is Monday through April 25, district spokeswoman Susan Parks Schlepp said.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each weekday at the administrative center, 1001 W Danforth.

The application process is not first-come, first-served, so parents do not need to stand in line the first day of the sign-up period, Schlepp said.

Children who are 4 but not older than 5 on or before Sept. 1 are eligible for the program. Students must live with parents or guardians who reside in the Edmond school attendance area.

New this year is full-day preschool at Sunset and Ida Freeman elementary schools.

“We are excited to pilot a full-day pre-K program at Sunset and Ida Freeman,” said Ruthie Riggs, executive director of elementary education. “Our teachers will focus on joyful learning encompassing social development as well as literacy and mathematical concepts that are appropriate for young learners. It is our hope that this program will start each child on the path to becoming a lifelong learner.”

Preschool applications will be available at the district office and on the district website at www.edmondschools.net beginning Monday. All applications must be received on or before 4:30 p.m. April 25.

All Edmond elementary schools except Clegern and Russell Dougherty will offer the pre-K program for 2014-2015.
