EDMOND — The Edmond Public Schools board of education has filled several principal and assistant principal positions, according to a news release.
During a special July 11 meeting, the board named Cordell Ehrich as principal of Cimarron Middle School. The leadership position at Cimarron opened up when Jason Hayes, who was named principal at Cimarron last month, was reassigned to be principal at Santa Fe High School following the resignation of Earl Kirkpatrick.
Ehrich has been an assistant principal at Cheyenne Middle School since 2010. Before that, he was the longtime band director at Sequoyah Middle School, where he was nominated for teacher of the year in 2007.
In addition, the board voted to employ the following people:
Candice DelCamp, principal at Angie Debo Elementary School.
Dayna Hamilton, principal at Charles Haskell Elementary School.
Susanne Dougherty, principal at Washington Irving Elementary School.
Christine Lugafet, assistant principal serving Cross Timbers Elementary School and Charles Haskell Elementary School.
Cartina McDaniel, assistant principal at John Ross Elementary School.
Susan Dombek, assistant principal at Will Rogers Elementary School.
“We have worked very hard to fill these leadership positions with passionate, hardworking and innovative educators,” said Lynne Rowley, executive director of elementary education. “We look forward to working closely with them to advance student learning and achievement.”
Rowley said several factors contributed to the number of open positions that had to be filled at the elementary level.
“Some administrators retired; others chose advancement in different districts and a few left for employment opportunities in the private or nonprofit sector.”
The new principals and assistant principals will begin their positions Aug. 1.
