Edmond soldier dies from injuries suffered in Afghanistan

Spc. James T. Wickliffchacin, 22, of Edmond, died Friday in Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, according to the U.S. Defense Department.

An soldier from Edmond has died after he was injured in a roadside bomb blast in Afghanistan, the U.S. Defense Department reported Sunday.

Spc. James T. Wickliffchacin, 22, of Edmond, died Friday at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

The bomb blast detonated near Wickliffchacin's dismounted patrol during combat operations Aug. 12 in Pul-e-Alam, Afghanistan, the news release said.

Wickliffchacin was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 8th Calvary Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team in Fort Stewart, Ga.
