“We are answering all calls,” said Glynda Chu,Edmond police spokeswoman. “We hope people will take the day off and stay home. The fewer people on the roads the better.”
Officers used six recently-purchased sport utility vehicles and other four-wheel-drive vehicles to help 300 stranded drivers during last week's blizzard.
There have been few reports of accidents or fire calls in Edmond this morning.
Assistant Fire Chief Tim Wheelersaid the fire department had had only one call Wednesday morning, a medical call to a nursing home.
“It is probably quieter than normal,” Wheeler said. “We learn lessons each time. Each time we are better prepared.”
Road crews are working 12-hour shifts to keep Edmond roads cleared, said Ashleigh Clark,the city's public information officer.
The Citylink public transportation system is closed today. It will be determined later if the buses will run Thursday.
Today's trash pickup was canceled and is rescheduled for Saturday.
