— Children can get a firsthand look at all kinds of trucks, police cars and ambulances at the Touch-A-Truck event.

A fire truck, cement truck, school bus and garbage truck also will be on display from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 12 at the University of Central Oklahoma parking lot off Second Street.

Admission is a suggested donation of $3 a person. Proceeds will go to the Food for Kids Backpack program at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

More than 60 vehicles were on display and about 3,000 people attended last year's event in Edmond.

The event is sponsored by the MOMS Club of East Edmond, a nonprofit organization that is a support group for stay-at-home moms.

The Food for Kids Backpack program of the regional food bank began in 2003 as an emergency food assistance program that now serves 11,000 students in 305 elementary schools across Oklahoma.
