— An Edmond woman is accused of drowning her dog, court records show.

Kristen Elyse Elliot, 25, was arrested Saturday and booked into the Edmond city jail on complaints of animal cruelty and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was being held Monday in the Oklahoma County jail, with bail set at $2,500, records show.

Police responding to a report of foul play involving a dead dog found about 9 p.m. behind a house in the 2400 block of Richland Drive.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Elliot's parents told police their daughter is a paranoid schizophrenic, and showed officers a text from the woman that read: “Go outside and walk around the corner of the house in back.”

Officers found the dog wrapped in the blanket with blood coming from its mouth. The dog's hair and the towel were wet, police reported.

When police contacted Kristen Elliot at a residence in the 100 block of Stonebridge Boulevard, she said, “Joy was put out of her misery the best way that I knew how,” police reported in the affidavit.

While en route to the jail, Elliott told officers she drowned her dog, police said.
