Edmond woman qualifies for sectional figure skating championships

Melissa Jaggers, of Edmond, won the bronze medal in the senior ladies division at the U.S. Southwestern Regional Figure Skating Championships.

— Melissa Jaggers, of Edmond, won the bronze medal in the senior ladies division recently at the U.S. Southwestern Regional Figure Skating Championships sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating.

Jaggers represented the OKC Figure Skating Club, and by placing third, qualified to compete at the U.S. Midwestern Sectional Figure Skating Championships in Cleveland from Friday-Nov. 13.

A sophomore at the University of Central Oklahoma, she also is a Barons Ice Girl for the Barons professional hockey team.

She works part time at Results Fitness and Nutrition Center and GNC.

She is coached by Jackie Brenner at Arctic Edge Ice Arena.

Barbara Higgs is president of the OKC Figure Skating Club.
