The final plat of Cross Timbers Park Southwest Phase I was approved by the city council. The 5.28 acres south of Covell Road and west of I-35 includes three commercial lots.

This is part of a 300-acre project on three sides of the intersection of Covell Road and I-35. A conference center and full service hotel are planned.

Council members agreed to spend $11 million on the purchase of land for the conference center, hotel and a regional sports complex. City officials also spent $2 million on the infrastructure and another $4.6 million on the construction of the conference center, Clay Coldiron, with Covell I-35 developers, told people attending an Edmond Convention and Tourism Advisory Board workshop.
