Urban forestry officials will buy and plant a tree selected by the property owner from a list of tree species suited for their site. All trees will be planted in the public right of way.

Eligibility for the program depends on available space for a tree. The homeowner has to make a commitment to water the tree for two years.

“By participating and helping to maintain Edmond's tree canopy cover, you can also experience firsthand the services that trees provide,” said Leigh Martin, an assistant in the urban forestry department.

“Trees offer numerous benefits, such as reduced energy costs, erosion prevention, beautification, stormwater control and air filtration.”

Anyone interested in the program should sign up by Friday at www.edmondok.com/foster, by calling 359-4759, or by emailing leigh.martin@edmondok.com.
