A family leisure pool with lap lanes and play equipment is included in the plans. A 20.5-foot twisting slide that is 130 feet long will run inside and outside the building.

City leaders said they have seen relatively few change orders considering the size of the project.

A number of changes were made when city officials made reductions in the cost of the project, said Assistant City Manager Steve Commons.

A $37,316 increase occurred when it was discovered a gas pipeline had been left off the plans.

“They forgot to put it in the plan,” Commons said. “We weren't happy about it, but we caught it in time.”

YMCA officials decided to add tile to the family leisure pool, which cost $191,000. The additional cost was paid by the YMCA.

“Knock on wood, everything is going pretty smooth,” Commons said.
