The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence has recognized programs at two Oklahoma school districts for service to students.
Winners of the 2012 Outstanding Program Awards for Local Education Foundations were from Midwest City-Del City Public Schools and Claremore Public Schools.
Each foundation will receive $1,000.
The Mid-Del Public Schools Foundation was honored for its Homeless Student Education Fund. Last year, nearly 1,700 students in the district were identified as homeless.
The foundation's Homeless Student Education Fund pays for homeless student activity expenses, such as sports physicals, art supplies and other costs.
All the requests so far have been for $100 or less.
The Claremore Public Schools Foundation was recognized for its 2011 Technology Initiative, which installed LCD projectors in each district classroom that was not yet equipped with one.
A donor offered $80,000 for a matching grant, and donors exceeded the challenge with $100,000 in gifts. The project was finished in March.
