Educators aren't law enforcement officers

For a gun to be effective, it must be loaded, accessible and used by a well-trained person. In a building full of children, a gun is more of a threat than the possibility of an intruder. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't know how children can find everything (read the newspaper for proof of this) and has more faith than I do in short-term gun training. The Legislature wasted last session trying to force changes in social issues instead of doing its job addressing the state budget infrastructure and economy. In 2013 it doesn't have time to waste on a dangerous proposition to put guns in the schools, which won't solve the problem and will get unrelenting, determined opposition. Educators aren't law enforcement officers.
