KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Electric vehicles will be on display this week at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, while a conference is being held there for industry professional and government agencies planning for the growing electric vehicle market.

The display will be on the plaza in front of the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy starting on Wednesday. The cars are on loan from the Tennessee Valley Authority and GM.

The conference consists of workshops for automobile manufacturers, state energy offices, metropolitan and regional planning organizations and academic institutions. The conference will discuss what is being done to build the market for plug-in vehicles and what more should be done.
