YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team is postponing a planned youth sports clinic in Newtown, Conn., because of a blizzard warning for the northeastern U.S.

The Eagles players and coach Tory Verdi were planning to put on a basketball clinic Sunday for the children of Newtown, where 20 students and six teachers were fatally shot Dec. 14 at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Eastern Michigan spokesman Geoff Larcom says the team "plans to reschedule its visit for the near future."

Michigan also is expected to get heavy snow, with up to a foot in western parts of the state.
