We heard there would be professional soccer team in Oklahoma City. We found out its name, where they would play and even its head coach. But what about players?
Who is going to actually play the game?
Fresh off the United Soccer League’s Pro combine last weekend in Florida, Energy FC is ready to make its first player signing in franchise history. The team announced Tuesday that there would be an official announcement on Wednesday in Oklahoma City.
General manager Jason Hawkins said there were a few pieces to the roster that would be revealed following league approval of the transaction. Open tryouts for roster spots will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15 and Sunday, the 16th as well as another tryout in Kansas City at the training sight of Energy FC’s Major League Soccer affiliate.
Sporting Kansas City will also loan at least two players to OKC this season, though Hawkins said there is no limit to how many players can be loaned. Oklahoma City and Orlando City FC are splitting affiliation with SKC.
