— A state Department of Human Services employee was found dead Tuesday morning in the gymnasium of the Northern Oklahoma Resource Center in Enid.

Enid police identified the deceased as Sean Stopp, 43, of Covington, and said his death appeared to be a suicide.

Stopp “appeared to have succumbed to self-inflicted asphyxiation,” police said. “Preliminary findings do not suspect foul play.”

Another DHS employee called police about 9:55 a.m. Tuesday after Stopp's body was discovered.

The body was taken to the state medical examiner's office in Oklahoma City for an autopsy.

Stopp's work title at the Northern Oklahoma Resource Center was direct care specialist II, said Sheree Powell, DHS spokeswoman.

Stopp had worked at the center for less than two years.
