EPA review of Keystone XL sad

Published: April 29, 2013

Regarding “EPA gives harsh review of Keystone XL impact report” (Tribune Washington Bureau, April 23): It's a sad day when the Environmental Protection Agency and some individuals continue to object to the Keystone XL pipeline. This is a project that will put thousands of people to work, reduce the amount of oil we're buying from foreign countries, reduce the price of gasoline andprovide other economic benefits. They're objecting to greenhouse gas emissions, pipeline safety and alternative routes. How can a pipeline emit greenhouse gas? Alternative routes have been chosen, at a cost of millions, and unnecessarily, to satisfy the EPA.

Not long ago the EPA objected because there may have been the possibility of interfering with the mating season of some underground beetle in Oklahoma.
