Esparza's: Famous for Tex-Mex, notorious for margaritas

But tucked away just off of Main Street in historic Grapevine is one that stands apart from the rest, Esparza's Restaurante Mexicano.

Established in 1985, Esparza's, 124 E Worth St., is independently owned and internationally known. Owner Steve Brown is very proud of the reputation that Esparza's has, and rightfully so.

The restaurant is internationally known because of its close proximity to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Brown says that many frequent travelers look forward to their layovers in Dallas just to eat at Esparza's. Their tagline is "Famous for Tex-Mex, Notorious for Margaritas. "

The fajitas are outstanding, and the new fish or brisket tacos and seafood enchiladas are quickly becoming the most popular menu items. The food is generously portioned and it keeps people coming back again and again.

Esparza's also offers bottomless chips and salsa, and its salsa is extremely popular. You can take a jar home for $2.49.

As for the margaritas, Brown says Esparza's sells $1 million in margaritas every year. Using its own recipe rather than pre-made bottled stuff, Esparza's margaritas ($4.50) are sure to make any margarita connoisseur's taste buds happy.

Speaking of happy, Esparza's happy "hour" is 11 a.
