ESPN Los Angeles reported early Wednesday evening that the Oklahoma City Thunder have "unexpectedly emerged as a leading contender" for Lakers free-agent center Pau Gasol.

ESPN also reports that the Thunder have been pursuing Gasol and Memphis Grizzlies shooting guard Mike Miller, even though Oklahoma City is limited in spending cash at the moment.
