ESPN's 'College GameDay' looks back at Jerome Lane's backboard-shattering dunk

“College GameDay” makes its first trip to N.C. State on Saturday to preview the North Carolina at N.C. State game, which will air at 6 p.m. on ESPN. “GameDay” will celebrate the 25-year anniversary of the Jerome Lane backboard-shattering one-handed dunk, which took place on Jan. 25, 1988, during a game between Pittsburgh and Providence. ESPN analyst Bill Raftery famously pronounced “Send it in, Jerome!” — the play later made ESPN's list of “100 Greatest Sports Highlights.”


“GameDay” airs at 9 a.m. on ESPNU, 10 a.m. on ESPN and 5 p.m. on ESPN.

Short takes

— The OU and OSU men's basketball teams will be on ESPN networks Saturday. OSU hosts West Virginia at noon (Brad Sham and Bob Valvano) on ESPNU, and OU plays at No. 3 Kansas at 3 p.m. on ESPN (Jon Sciambi and Fran Fraschilla).
