ESPN’s Hubie Brown looks at Thunder
ESPN NBA analyst Hubie Brown still talks like he’s a basketball coach, even though he hasn’t coached since Thanksgiving 2004, when he left the Memphis Grizzlies because of health reasons. Brown, who also coached the ABA’s Kentucky Colonels and the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks of the NBA, discussed the Thunder’s season.
→ If the playoffs started today, the Thunder would be the No. 8 seed. Do they have a realistic chance of making the playoffs? "If we started the playoffs today, San Antonio and New Orleans would not be in the playoffs. We all know that San Antonio has had a lot of problems with the adjustment of the new players and injuries. New Orleans has had problems because Chris Paul has been out a long period of time and injuries to other players. Will these two teams be able to regroup like they always do from January to the end of the season? These are two teams they (the Thunder) have to worry about. "The next factor is, the Thunder is 11-9 and they have a plus-3 (scoring) differential. This is how I’d always explain it to my teams: If you could stay right around a 0 differential, we have a chance to win 40 to 42 games. Now as you go up each percentage point, it gives you an incredible chance. Now, 2.5 to 3, you’ve got a shot at 50 wins. The key at this stage of the game is they are doing excellent things at the defensive end of the floor. If you look at it, they are ninth in forcing turnovers, sixth in steals and fourth in blocks.Mom reveals simple wrinkle secret that has angered doctors...
