Esther Women luncheon series is planned for new season

“The themes of the life of Queen Esther in the Old Testament continue to resonate today for Oklahoma women,” Jayroe said. “Just as this young woman of faith risked everything for others so long ago, God has a purpose for each season of our lives as well.”

The interdenominational series continues through May 1 with a luncheon on the first Wednesday of each month.

Speakers for the 10th season include: Oct. 3, Broadcast journalists and authors Robin Marsh and Lauren Nelson, Miss America 2007; Nov. 7, Lisa Wolfe, ordained minister and Oklahoma City University assistant professor of Hebrew Bible; Dec. 5, former Oklahoma first lady Cathy Keating and her daughter Carrie Keating Leonard, National Young Mother of the Year; Jan. 9, Charlotte Lankard, author, licensed marriage and family therapist and The Oklahoman columnist; and Feb. 6, Oklahoma Supreme Court Justice Noma Gurich, Kelly Dyer Fry, editor of The Oklahoman, and Oklahoma County Comissioner Willa Johnson.

Others are: March 6, Carrie Taylor and her daughter Rebecca Hill, and May 1, Esther Women founder Jayroe. The speaker for the April 3 luncheon will be announced later.

Jayroe said season pass participants also will be invited to attend a concert and conversation with Oklahoma native and gospel recording artist Sandi Patty on May 7.

Recently, Wolfe, 43, said her message to the Nov. 7 luncheon crowd will come from her new book “Ruth, Esther, Song of Songs and Judith.”
