LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — Late goals from Steven Naismith and Kevin Mirallas helped Everton bounce back from their Merseyside derby drubbing with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.
Coming off a 4-0 loss at Liverpool on Tuesday, Everton went behind again when Leandro Bacuna scored for Villa in the 34th minute.
But Everton ramped up the pressure in the second half and Naismith equalized in the 74th, only four minutes after coming on as a substitute.
Mirallas then secured the win with a stunning free kick in the 85th to get Everton's top-four challenge back on track.
Everton leapfrogged Tottenham into fifth as Spurs were held to a 1-1 draw at Hull.
