Ex-sheriff’s team casts dim view of accusers

FAIRVIEW — Attorneys for former Custer County Sheriff Mike Burgess unleashed their client’s defense Tuesday during opening statements, depicting him as the victim of a civil lawsuit conspiracy by a band of "liars” and "convicted felons.”
